Student Money Mentors LLC ("Student Money Mentors," "we," "us," or "our") operates VIA ("VIA," the "Service," or the "App"), a Christian community platform designed to help users grow in faith through Scripture, prayer, Bible study, reflection, and meaningful connections with others.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it may be shared, how we protect it, and the choices you have regarding your information.

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service, AI Use & AI Privacy Notice, Community Guidelines, Safety & Reporting Policy, and other applicable policies.

1. Information We Collect

Shared with: Service providers that host and secure the Service and other recipients described in this Policy.

2. Faith Profile Information

VIA allows you to create an optional Faith Profile to personalize your experience.

What we collect:

Depending on what you choose to provide, this may include:

  • church information;
  • denomination or Christian tradition;
  • theological beliefs or convictions;
  • spiritual stage;
  • personal faith notes;
  • areas where you would like spiritual help;
  • theological preferences;
  • Scripture or devotional preferences; and
  • other information you voluntarily provide about your faith.

Some of this information may be considered sensitive personal information under applicable privacy laws.

Why we collect it: To personalize VIA's faith-related features, including Ask VIA and the Biblical Life Guide, when you choose to use those features.

How we use it: Your Faith Profile may be used as contextual information when generating personalized responses or recommendations.

Your Faith Profile is not treated by VIA as universal theological truth and is not intended to determine what other users believe.

Where stored: The Service's database.

Retention: Until you delete the information, delete your account, or we otherwise delete it pursuant to this Policy.

Shared with: Your Faith Profile is not publicly displayed merely because you create one. When you use an AI feature that requires Faith Profile context, relevant information may be transmitted to the applicable AI provider as described in AI Processing below.

AI-generated content is provided as educational and devotional assistance. It is not a substitute for advice from a pastor, priest, minister, counselor, theologian, or other qualified professional.

AI-generated interpretations of Scripture and theological answers may be:

  • inaccurate;
  • incomplete;
  • based on limited context;
  • influenced by a particular theological perspective; or
  • inconsistent with the beliefs or teachings of your church or denomination.

AI-generated content should not be treated as authoritative Christian doctrine or as a definitive interpretation of Scripture.

7. AI Processing

When you use an AI feature, VIA may transmit your prompt and relevant information to a third-party AI provider through the AI services integrated into the platform supporting VIA.

This may include relevant portions of:

  • your prompt;
  • your conversation;
  • Scripture-related context;
  • your Faith Profile, when relevant to the feature;
  • information necessary to personalize the response; and
  • other information reasonably necessary to generate the requested output.

We seek to limit AI requests to information reasonably necessary to provide the feature.

We do not intentionally use your private AI conversations to publicly post content on your behalf.

AI-generated prayers, responses, interpretations, or other content are not automatically published as your posts.

AI providers may process information according to their own policies and contractual arrangements with the platform supporting VIA. We do not control every aspect of how an external AI provider handles information after it receives it.

We encourage you to avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive personal information into AI conversations.

8. Uploaded Images and Files

VIA allows users to upload images and other files.

What we collect:

This may include:

  • profile photos;
  • images attached to posts;

  • images attached to prayer-related content;
  • screenshots attached to reports or appeals; and
  • other files you voluntarily upload.

Why we collect it: To provide the feature for which you upload the file.

Where stored: Uploaded files are stored through the platform's file-storage infrastructure.

14. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information or User Content.

We may share information with the following categories of recipients when reasonably necessary:

Service Providers

We may share information with providers that host, secure, maintain, or otherwise help us operate VIA.

The platform supporting VIA provides infrastructure such as database, authentication, file storage, and other services.

AI Providers

When you use AI features, relevant information may be transmitted to third-party AI providers to generate the response you requested.

For example, depending on your settings:

Legal and Safety Disclosures

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

  • comply with applicable law;
  • respond to legal process or government requests;
  • investigate fraud or abuse;
  • protect users or other people from harm;
  • enforce our agreements;
  • protect our rights or property; or
  • investigate security incidents.

15. User-Generated Content and Privacy

VIA is a community platform, and information you intentionally share with other users may be copied, saved, screenshot, forwarded, or otherwise redistributed by those users.

We cannot guarantee that another user will keep information confidential after you intentionally share it with them.

Before posting or sharing sensitive information, consider whether you are comfortable with the selected audience receiving it.

  • personal struggles;
  • family information;
  • relationship information;
  • health-related information;
  • church-related information; and
  • other sensitive personal experiences.

16. Children's and Teen Privacy

VIA is intended for users 16 and older.

Users who are 16 or 17 may be subject to additional safety, visibility, and community restrictions.

We do not knowingly permit children under 16 to create or maintain VIA accounts.

If you believe a person under 16 has provided personal information to VIA, please contact us at about@studentmoneymentors.com so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.

17. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

Your private records are designed to be separated from other users' records through the Service's access controls.

However, no internet transmission, storage system, or electronic security system is completely secure.

Accordingly, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

18. Where Your Information Is Stored

VIA is hosted using the Base44 platform infrastructure.

Structured information may be stored in the platform's database, while uploaded files may be stored through the platform's file-storage infrastructure.

Information may also be processed by third-party service providers, including AI providers, in locations determined by those providers and the platform.

Base44 states that its platform may process information internationally and that its platform infrastructure includes database, storage, security, and related services.

19. Data Retention

We generally retain information for as long as necessary to provide VIA, maintain your account, provide requested features, protect the Service, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our agreements.

You may delete certain content directly through VIA where the applicable feature provides a deletion option.

You may also request deletion of your account and associated application-level information.

Important Platform-Level Limitation

Some information is stored through Base44's underlying infrastructure, including uploaded files and authentication records.

VIA's application-level deletion processes may remove the application's records associated with your account without necessarily controlling the immediate deletion of every underlying file object, authentication record, or backup.

Base44's current documentation states that data retained in automatic backups may remain until those backup systems complete their normal deletion cycles.

Accordingly, we do not promise that every copy of your information will be immediately and permanently erased from every underlying system when you request deletion.

Instead, deletion will occur subject to applicable platform processes, backup cycles, legal requirements, security needs, and other permitted retention obligations.

20. Data Deletion

You may delete content through the Service where deletion functionality is available.

You may also request deletion of your account and personal information by contacting:

about@studentmoneymentors.com

When we process a valid deletion request, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify information that we are required or permitted to delete.

We may retain limited information where reasonably necessary for:

  • legal compliance;
  • fraud prevention;
  • security;
  • dispute resolution;
  • enforcement of our agreements;
  • protection of rights or safety; or
  • other purposes permitted by applicable law.

Information may also remain temporarily in backups or other platform-level systems until those systems complete their ordinary deletion cycles.

21. Your Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Access personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Delete personal information;
  • Request portability of certain personal information;
  • Opt out of certain processing where applicable; and
  • Request information about our collection and use of personal information.

To exercise a privacy right, contact:

about@studentmoneymentors.com

We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests.

Your rights may vary depending on the state or jurisdiction where you live, and certain legal exceptions may apply.

22. U.S. State Privacy Rights

If you are a resident of a U.S. state with an applicable comprehensive privacy law, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information.

Depending on the applicable law, these may include rights to:

  • know or access personal information;
  • correct personal information;
  • delete personal information;
  • obtain a portable copy of certain information;
  • opt out of certain sales or sharing of personal information;
  • opt out of certain targeted advertising; and
  • appeal certain decisions concerning privacy requests.

We do not sell your personal information.

We also do not currently use VIA for cross-context behavioral advertising.

These rights are subject to applicable law and its exceptions.

23. Cookies and Similar Technologies

VIA uses technical storage mechanisms and similar technologies necessary for the operation and security of the Service.

These technologies may be used to:

  • keep you signed in;
  • authenticate your account;
  • remember preferences;
  • maintain sessions; and
  • support application functionality.

VIA does not currently add third-party advertising trackers or advertising pixels.

The platform supporting VIA may use cookies and other technologies as described in its own privacy documentation. Base44's privacy policy describes cookies and other tracking technologies used across its platform.

You can control certain cookies and browser storage through your browser or device settings, although disabling required technologies may prevent portions of VIA from functioning correctly.

24. Third-Party Services

VIA relies on third-party infrastructure and service providers to operate certain portions of the Service.

These may include providers involved in:

  • hosting;
  • authentication;
  • database infrastructure;
  • file storage;
  • AI processing;
  • security; and
  • other technical services.

Third-party providers may process information according to their own agreements and privacy policies.

Base44's documentation explains that it may use third-party vendors and subprocessors to provide its platform and that its DPA governs certain processing of application users' personal data.

25. Business Transfers

We may disclose or transfer information in connection with:

  • a merger;
  • acquisition;
  • financing;
  • sale of assets;
  • reorganization;
  • bankruptcy; or
  • similar business transaction.

If required by applicable law, we will provide notice regarding a material change in how your personal information is handled.

26. Security Incidents

We maintain reasonable security measures designed to protect personal information.

If we become aware of a security incident involving personal information, we will provide notice where required by applicable law and within the timeframe required by applicable law.

27. Marketing Communications

We may send transactional or service-related communications concerning your account, security, features, policies, or other necessary aspects of VIA.

If we send marketing communications, they will include an appropriate method for opting out where required by law.

You may contact us regarding marketing preferences at:

about@studentmoneymentors.com

28. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above.

If a change is material, we may provide additional notice where required by applicable law.

Your continued use of VIA after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy to the extent permitted by applicable law.
